A Year Without Beer: Meg's Favorite Non-Alcoholic Brews

Hello beer friends! It's been a minute since we've posted or been on our socials, but we have a pretty good reason for it. Without getting too into our personal lives, let's just say that 2021 and the beginning of 2022 were absolutely awful for us. We are just now starting to come out of the fog a bit, even though there are still many things that we are trying to navigate through.

Partly by choice and mostly for health reasons, I, (Meghan), haven't consumed alcohol since the end of July 2021. A whole year without beer... seriously. I consider myself a huge craft beer fan and to no longer have that a part of my life initially was a huge bummer, but it was necessary. Also, to go through what we went through last year without a good strong brew once in awhile wasn't the easiest, ha! I'm not sure what my future looks like as far as consuming alcohol again, but as of right now I'm good where I am... and honestly, I'm not really as upset, because I quickly discovered that there are numerous delicious non-alcoholic (N/A) craft beer options out there that I would have never known about otherwise!

Killihump's Favorite Winter Brews! (2021)

Happy winter 2021! If you're anything like us, then you're head first into those dark, malty winter brews and waiting for more snow! It's no secret that Meghan is a huge winter fan so a winter beer post was obvious. Chris is probably more of a summer guy, but he's happily switched out his "lawn mower beers" for "snow shoveling beers". Here in Southeastern CT, we've already had one decent snow storm back in December... and we certainly enjoyed it! Along with our neighbors, we built one heck of a snow fort... er, rather a beer drinking snow fort! We're definitely outdoor people and love spending time outside drinking brews - what else are ya gonna do in a pandemic?

We're getting ready for some more snow to come for our area...tomorrow in fact.. so if you're in SECT make sure to get your snow gear ready and then head to your nearest brewery or package store to stock up on some winter brew before the snow flies! BUT first, check out what winter brews made the Killihump cut!

2020 Recap!

It's been one hell of a year... but one of the things that helped get us through... beer! While we weren't able to visit breweries like we did pre pandemic - we did our best to support them from home and did manage to get to a few of our area breweries to purchase curbside. We are also super thankful to our area package stores who also kept things well stocked despite the craziness.

In this post we included some of our personal favorite brews of the year! In addition, the clever folks over at Untapp'd have tallied our top beers, style, breweries (etc.) of 2020! Check out our results! We also included our Top Nine posts of Instagram!

Thank you to all who follow us on our social media pages! We hope that you all stay safe, healthy and have a better new year full of yummy brews! Cheers!

Killihump's Top 10 Pumpkin Brews! (2020)

It's nearing Halloween, (and Meghan's birthday), which means we've stocked our fridge with a TON of pumpkin beers! Some folks tend to not be so into pumpkin beer, and that's OK... we say: drink what makes you happy! Just like any style out there, there's a bunch of good ones... and some not so good ones. We've decided to compile a list of our favorites. So if you're on a the hunt for some of the best pumpkin beers out there... take note! Also something to keep in mind... the pumpkin beers are getting harder and harder to find as the pumpkin season is already nearing the end... so don't snooze - snag it when you see it! Be prepared for Halloween!

This has been a pretty big project for us and unfortunately the pandemic has made it difficult for us to acquire beers out of our area. We haven't been straying too far away from our house, as we are trying to stay safe and we also have family members that are high risk - so travelling out of our county has not been possible. All the beers we've purchased for this list have been available locally to us in Groton/New London and also the Westerly area. With the exception being our #2 pick, in which our neighbors parents brought in from NY.

Instead of rating these individually, we decided to just list our 10 favorites. So without further delay... here are our top 10 Pumpkin beers!

Killihump's Top 10 Oktoberfest Brews! (2020)

Autumn is here! We've been headfirst into our Oktoberfest brews, pumpkin ales and fall worthy brews since late August... some say that's too early... we say: drink what makes you happy! Especially in times like these, we're thankful for awesome brew - no matter the month!

This is definitely our favorite season and our fridge has been consistently full with beers we've been collecting for us to try. Summer Quarantine Beers!

Hello from Chris & Meghan! It's been a minute... we hope all of you out there in beer land are safe, healthy and sipping yummy brews! We're well and hanging in over here at Killihump HQ.  Thanks to this pandemic, we've definitely been enjoying our share of beer over the last few months! It's great news that some breweries and beer bars have been able to reopen with restrictions in place! We, however, have stuck pretty close to home, as a member of our family is high risk. We've been doing curbside/to-go whenever we're able, to support local businesses... and we hope you are able to do the same!

After this record breaking hot summer we've had here in SECT... we're definitely ready for the cooler weather! I don't know about all of you, but we're already headfirst into Oktoberfests and pumpkin brews! And no... it's never too early! However, we are still in summer, so we put together a list of a few blog worthy brews we've been enjoying throughout the summer months. Put these on your list if you haven't yet tried them...
