What a beautiful venue they have in Charlton, MA! The landscape is gorgeous - many places to relax inside or out... under a huge outdoor pavilion with fireplaces or on the lawn/hill in a lounge chair overlooking it all. Tunes playing throughout the entire venue - makes it feel like you're at a really cool house party. And the staff... they're super friendly and informative! The perfect hosts!
It's a really busy place - even today, on a very rainy Wednesday afternoon. I kinda felt like I was sitting at a toll booth on a highway somewhere watching folks come through... and it was continuous, one after the other... getting their cans, having a pint... and then on their way. It's a very streamlined system - a well oiled machine.
One tip I'd like to pass along is that you need to make sure you're checking their social media pages if you're going to make the trip. They don't always serve pours if they've got a big can release - as to make sure they are able to properly staff can sales. Today we lucked out - they were selling cans and had a new release today, but it wasn't as busy so they were able to allow 1 draft pour purchase per person. Huzzah!
Today we enjoyed our pours; Chris got the 6th Anniversary Double Shot Imperial Stout brewed with coffee 9.2% and I (Meghan) chose the Bear American Brown Ale 6.4%. They were perfect for a rainy day - or really any day! Double Shot was ridiculously amazing - dark and fudgy - it was literally like coffee ice cream in a glass! We also really enjoyed Bear - I'm a huge fan of brown ales - and it was definitely solid and had notes of toffee and caramel. We so enjoyed them both!
We had a great time at Treehouse today and we're going to try not to let so much time pass before we make it up there again!! Especially when the weather is not as soggy!
These guys hitched a ride back home with us:
Hurricane DIPA 7.7%, Doppelganger DIPA 8.2%, Tornado pale ale 5.4%, Abstraction Imperial Porter 8.8% (which was the new release today) and In Perpetuity IPA 6.7%.
