A Visit to Grey Sail Brewing's New Tap Room!

It was a short weekend for us beer wise, but we managed to get out Sunday for a bit! We heard through the grapevine, (thanks Jeff Thunders!), that Grey Sail Brewing was having a soft opening for their new tap room - which we hadn't heard about - of course we wanted to check it out, so off we went to Westerly, RI....

What can I say but WOW!! Grey Sail has definitely kicked it up a notch by purchasing the home next door to their brewery and turning into a tap room! HUGE congrats to these guys - what a fabulous idea - and it's GORGEOUS! Chris spoke with Alan Brinton, co-owner/operator on how it all came about, check it...

The tap room house is directly next door to the brewery - and I wish I had taken more pictures of the outside when you first walk in - the house is a bright canary yellow with a blue door and features the sign "tap room" overhead as you walk in. It's a beautiful old New England style house, and I'm assuming must have been built somewhere in the 1800's? The decor is victorian-esque and features many wall paintings throughout. Rumor has it that the previous owner of the house had an Italian painter tenant upstairs who sometimes substituted painting the walls as rent?!

As you walk in the front door, the actual tap room is on the right which features 8 Grey Sail taps, 8 guest beer taps and 2 wine. Pretty awesome selection of brew and notably included some from Germany, Belgium and France as well as some other regional favorites!

Let's talk beer: we enjoyed the Grey Sail Black Mast American stout 6.2% as well as Proclamation's Derivitive Pacific Gem pale ale 6%. Also on tap which we must mention is one of our favorites and probably Grey Sail's best brew, Captain's Daughter DIPA 8.5%

Off of the tap room is a beautiful sun room/seating area...

Off to the left of the main entrance is another bright sitting area where you could enjoy a game of chess or relax in a comfy chair alongside the fireplace. We laughed with our friends about what a great place this would be to take a first date! What an impression you would make! Swanky!

Our friends Colleen, Jeff Thunders & George enjoying their flights!
Our friend and fellow beer geek, Jeff White and Chris

Off of that room featured yet another sitting room with another fireplace and more wall paintings - as well as a view of the gardens. This place is just awesome!

Head outside to the enjoy your pints or flights in the gardens which feature beautiful landscape, a fountain and bocce ball court!

We just loved our visit to the new Grey Sail tap room - huge congrats to the crew on a job well done!! This will for sure be one of our new favorite places to hang out and relax! Highly recommend checking this out!!
