After hitting up the record stores, we made our way to Westerly, RI to one of our go-to packy's, Dick's World of Wines. We *managed* to find a few things... ya know, just some Founders KBS, Stoneface IPA and Red Rye Ale and the new Firestone Walker Luponic Distortion: Revolution No. 001.
If you're on the hunt for KBS, they ARE selling 4 packs here, and they had a few left as of Saturday. Honestly it's a good price at $24.99 ($6.25/bottle). I know, it's crazy, but if you're a craft beer fan then you know what's up. Chris found it elsewhere for $6.50/bottle, and you could only buy 1 bottle. So yeah, seeing as how they had the 4 packs and it was a decent deal, we went for it. The is one of those beers that saying you spent $25 on a 4 pack actually makes sense.
If you're up for something new in the line of IPA's, the Firestone Walker Luponic Distortion is awesome. They are a rotating hop series and this the first one of the series. It's described as: "An ever-evolving mix of experimental hops, designed to deliver
mind-blowing flavors that break the rules with each new release. The
unique revolution number on the label tells you which release you have
in hand. Crack fresh and enjoy the show". Firestone Walker has some solid beers so we knew we couldn't go wrong with getting the 6 pack of this right off the bat, and we weren't wrong. We popped these outside on the patio yesterday and it was really refreshing. A little sweet up front and not overly hoppy. Really awesome brew! Try it!

After we finished our beer shopping we drove down the way to 84 Tavern, a killer beer bar/restaurant. Area locals may remember this place as China Village! We love this place, and we ALWAYS recommend 84 to folks heading to Westerly - great beer selection and awesome food. When we heard they were celebrating record store day by tapping the official record store day beer by Dogfish Head Brewing, "Beer to Drink Music To", AND raffling off a Dogfish Head record player, we knew we had to go!
So those of you familiar with Record Store Day may remember that last year Dogfish Head became a proud sponsor, and released a record "Music to Drink Beer to" volume 1. I bought the record last year and it's a pretty cool little compilation of songs - they released volume 2 this year as well as the beer to match. Records and beer that go together!? SOLD!
"Beer to Drink Music To" is a 9% Belgian-style Tripel and brewed with sweet orange peel, green cardamom, peppercorns and vanilla. It's killer. 84 Tavern also had Dogfish 90 minute IIPA (9%) and Romantic Chemistry IPA 7.2% on tap. If you ordered any of the Dogfish brews you got this neato Record Store Day / Dogfish pint glass free and an entry for the Dogfish record player! How cool!!
While at 84 I also ordered the cask, which was Two Roads Brewing Rye 95 (Belgian Tripel) with oak chips 9.5%. Oh baby was that fabulous! Obviously a lot of vanilla from the oak chips, but not overly sweet. We also had Captain's Daughter IIPA 8.5% by Grey Sail Brewing, which is literally right down the road from 84 Tavern and in my opinion is Grey Sail's best beer.
Oh yeah, we ran into our friend Justin at 84... and great minds obviously think alike! Revival Brewing represent! Oh, and we didn't win the record player... but Justin did! At least it went to a good home!

Here's where the day starts to get a bit fuzzy... at least for me... ha! We walked down the road to another one of our favorite beer bar/restaurants, The Malted Barley. I had a Lord Hobo Boom Sauce IIPA 8% and Chris had a Two Roads Brewing Route of all Evil Black IPA 7.4%.
So some whiskey *somehow* made its way to us after this round... and let's just say I wound up back at my house for a very long nap after this and Chris was forced to make our planned evening rounds without me, ha! All in all it was an eventful day and we definitely had a lot of great beer and got to hang with so many of our friends! Success!
