Sorry it's been soooo long! Did you miss us!? We took a super-awesome-fun-time road trip to Louisville, Kentucky earlier in July to visit Chris's mom - and it's just been crazy since we got back! If you follow us on Facebook or Untappd then you know we've still been drinking lots of brew - and YES, we sure did bring LOTS of beer home....

We enjoyed all of the beers on the list really, but these are the ones that are still sitting on our brains:
Both beers we had from Jackie O's (Athens, OH) were awesome - and in fact, everyone we talked to down there agreed. Chris randomly ran into a grocery store at a pit stop in Ohio and came out with these. We lucked out big time! In fact, we stopped at the same grocery store on the way home just to get more! Mystic Mama is super juicy! Highly recommend! Mother Humper alert!
I discovered Jungle Boogie Pale Wheat w/ Rooibos tea 5.4% by Marz (Chicago, IL) at a Liquor Barn in Louisville. Liquor Barn's are awesome HUGE liquor stores with drafts in the back! The beer tender suggested it and I fell in love with it as the smell hit my nose! I believe he said it was contract brewed or somehow was a collab w/ Against the Grain which is why it was available there, but I could have heard him wrong? Really great tropical flavor profile and beautiful red color - I assume from the tea. They only had two 4 packs left - I bought one, and instantly regretted not buying both. We figured we'd stop at another Liquor Barn and find it again - but we could not find it again! This was probably my (Meg's) favorite of the trip.
Rhinegeist (Cincinnati, OH) Truth IPA 7.2% was literally everywhere in Louisville. We even ordered it with our lunch at Red Robin Burgers. This is just a solid IPA - no frills, but done exceptionally well. We were just so impressed with it every time we had it. I'm sure this company will make its way here sometime in the near future - they seem to be doing really well and again, you can find them most anywhere down there. Rhinegeist for the win!

Another worth mentioning: West Sixth (Lexington, KY) Heller Heaven DIPA 9.5%. This was a killer brew - super smooth - definitely doesn't seem like you're drinking a 9.5% that's for sure! We actually tried this beer at The Louisville Beer Store - yet another cool beer store that has drafts - scroll down to read more about this place! Anyway, this brew was killer and we definitely brought some back with us!

One of the breweries we went to was of course Against the Grain (Louisville, KY) - and what a killer brewery/restaurant this place is! In addition to the killer brew, their burgers are top notch, and dare I say probably #2 on my best burgers list with Plan B: Burgers, Bourbon & Beer in Glastonbury, CT still holding the #1 spot!
We tried everything they had on, which I believe was 9 beers. I think my favorite was the Sunslayer Black IPA 6.5% - and of course the staple Citra Ass Down DIPA 8.2% was awesome as well. On the way out we left them with some Beer'd, Lawson's & Grey Sail. They gave us a few in trade as well, and they even allowed us to smack a Beer'd sticker on the window on the way out the door. Beer peeps unite! Sharing is caring! We just had a great time chatting with the staff and loved our visit there! Success!
After that we headed just a bit down the way to Flat 12 Bierwerks which Chris had been to before. It was already getting late, and we were pretty tired and full, but we stopped in quickly so I could see what they were about. We chatted with them for a few and I tried their Lacto-Matic Milk Stout 5% which was sweet and smooth - the perfect ending for the night! I wish we had more time to spend at these places but we only had a few hours out - the girls were with grandma! Ha! Next time!!

We had a killer road trip, and I can't wait to go back to Louisville! We already decided that next time we would like to stop in Cincinnati and maybe Cleveland. Lots of good beer out there! Here's a few more pics from the trip:

We also hit up The Louisville Beer Store which was really awesome. Once again, killer beer store with beers on tap! You can also purchase and pop anything in their coolers as well - and they have a sweet beer garden/patio out back! These guys were fun to chat with and super knowledgeable, not to mention they have a HUGE selection of brew! We tried some West Sixth (Lexington, KY) and shared some CT brew with them as well! Love this place!

We ventured over the Ohio river over to Jeffersonville, Indiana and checked out The Red Yeti and Flat 12 Bierwerks. The Red Yeti is a cool brewery/restaurant - but since we had already eaten, we headed straight to the bar and ordered some brew! I had a Falls City (Louisville, KY) Downtown Brown 4.8% which I really enjoyed, solid brown. Chris had a Black Acre (Indianapolis, IN) Saucy Intruder Rye IPA 7.2% which he rated pretty high. I think he liked it!! We also sampled the 3 Floyds (Munster, IN) Icelandic Pants of the Dead Sour Ale 6% that was on tap - and to my surprise Chris really liked it! He doesn't typically care for this style, so I was shocked. ha! I can't say I was as excited as he was about it. ha. Maybe we had too many by this point? After that we headed just a bit down the way to Flat 12 Bierwerks which Chris had been to before.
